Broadway Street, San Francisco, California
This project involved the remodel of a residence widely regarded as one of the finest examples of ‘Free Class’ Victorian architecture on the West coast. Commissioned in 1894, the home features extensive use of oak, walnut, and mahogany hardwoods with intricate detailing throughout. Careful preconstruction planning and project execution, ensured it was successfully completed within a compressed schedule. The renovation involved an addition with exterior façade treatments that highlight the new large custom profiled exterior door and window units, carefully crafted to maintain the integrity and grandeur of the original design while showcasing the bay views. New floors and wall paneling were blended seamlessly into the old adding to the overall continuity of elements. The remodeled kitchen centers around an island featuring Calcutta stone and waterfall paneling. Sleek clean lines and cabinet color take full advantage of natural light provided through elegant French doors and sidelights which open to a new deck structure.
